Prophet 24 of 25

Isa (Jesus)

عيسى

The Messiah, son of Maryam; a mighty messenger of Allah

Symbolic scene from the story of Isa (Jesus)
Before the miracle son, a miracle mother

Isa's story begins with his mother. Maryam, the only woman named in the Quran, with an entire surah carrying her name, was the purest of her generation, chosen above the women of the worlds (Quran 3:42). To her, the angel announced a son by Allah's creative word “Be”, no father involved, just as Adam was created with neither father nor mother (3:47, 3:59).

When she carried the newborn back to her people and faced their accusations, the baby himself spoke from the cradle: “I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture, and made me a prophet.” (19:30). As a messenger to Bani Israil, Isa healed the born-blind and the leper and raised the dead, all “by God’s leave.” (3:49), received the Injil, and called to “God, my Lord and your Lord” (5:72). Islam draws two firm lines with all its love for him: he is not divine, and he was not crucified, “Rather, God raised him up to Himself.” (4:158). And he foretold a messenger coming after him named Ahmad (61:6). His return before the end of time is confirmed by the Prophet ﷺ (Sahih al-Bukhari 3448).

The lesson to keep

Lesson: Loving and honoring Isa is part of Islam. Worship stays for Allah alone.
