Ilyas (Elijah)

إلياس

Called his people away from the idol Baal

Symbolic scene from the story of Ilyas (Elijah)
They swapped the Maker of the sun for a statue

Centuries after Musa, the Israelites in the region of Baalbek drifted into worshipping an idol called Baal. Allah sent them Ilyas, and the Quran preserves the core of his sermon as a question that answers itself: “Do you call upon Baal and abandon the best of creators, Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?” (Quran 37:125-126).

Most of them denied him, and the Quran states their appointment plainly: “they will surely be brought to punishment” (37:127), except the sincere servants. Then it closes his file with the greeting it reserves for its heroes: “Peace be upon Ilyas. Indeed, thus do We reward the doers of good” (37:129-131).
