How do I increase my rizq?

Five things from the Quran and hadith that bring more rizq, and the dua Musa (AS) made when he had nothing.

You pray. You ask Allah for a better job, for less stress about bills, for a little extra money. But nothing changes.

And you start to wonder: am I doing something wrong?

Rizq means everything Allah gives you. Money, yes. But also your health, your family, your time and your peace. Allah has already written your rizq. But the Quran and the hadith also tell us things we can do that bring more of it. Here are five.

1. Do you say astaghfirullah every day?

Astaghfirullah means: I ask Allah to forgive me.

In the Quran, the prophet Nuh (AS) told his people: ask Allah to forgive you. Then He will send you rain, and give you money and children, gardens and rivers.

See the order. First you ask for forgiveness. Then the good things come.

So make it a daily habit, not only when things go wrong. Say astaghfirullah after every prayer, in the car, while you wait in line.

Nabi ﷺ himself said he asked Allah to forgive him 100 times a day. If he did that, we need it even more.

2. Do you give charity, even when money is tight?

Nabi ﷺ said: giving charity never makes your money less.

It feels strange when you are short on money. Most of us wait until life is easier before we give.

But a man once asked Nabi ﷺ which charity gets the biggest reward. He said: the one you give when you are healthy, when you want to keep your money, when you are scared of being poor. In other words, when it is hard. Even a small amount counts.

3. Is all your money halal?

Allah says in the Quran: if you fear Him and do what is right, He will give you a way out of your problems. And He will give you rizq from places you never expected.

This means a halal job, being honest in business, and no shortcuts. Sometimes it means saying no to money that is not clean. That can feel like you are losing rizq. Allah says it is the opposite.

4. Are you working, or just waiting?

In the Quran, Allah tells people: after the Friday prayer is over, go out and look for the good things He has for you. In other words: pray, then go to work.

Nabi ﷺ also said: if you trusted Allah fully, He would feed you like He feeds the birds. They fly out in the morning hungry, and come home full.

Look at what the birds do. They do not sit in the nest and wait for food. They fly out and look for it. Trusting Allah does not mean sitting at home. It means you do the work, and you leave the result to Allah.

Nabi ﷺ said the best food you can eat is food you bought with money you earned yourself.

5. Do you keep in touch with your family?

Nabi ﷺ said: if you want more rizq and a longer life, stay close to your relatives.

Think of the uncle you have not called in a year. The sister you stopped messaging after a fight. Calling them is not just good manners. Nabi ﷺ said it brings you more rizq.

Pray, then go to work. The birds do not wait in the nest.

Is there a dua for rizq?

Yes, and it comes with a story.

The prophet Musa (AS) once had to run away from Egypt. He arrived in a new land with nothing. No money, no job, no home.

He saw two women waiting to water their sheep, so he helped them. Then he sat down in the shade and made a short dua: My Lord, I really need whatever good You send me.

Soon after, one of the women came back. Her father wanted to pay him for his help. By the end of the story, Musa had a job, a home and a wife.

Notice what he did first. He helped someone. Then he asked Allah.

The dua of Musa (AS), word for word

When you need rizq

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir.

My Lord, I really need whatever good You send me.

Quran 28:24

Will the money come right away?

Not always. Allah did not give a date. And rizq does not always come as money. Sometimes it comes as a debt that suddenly feels lighter, a sick child who gets better, or a month where somehow you had just enough.

Do these five things because Allah asked you to. More rizq is His promise, and He decides when.

What to do

  • Say astaghfirullah 100 times a day, a little at a time.
  • Give something small every week, especially when it is hard.
  • Check your money: does all of it come from halal work?
  • Call one relative this week that you have been avoiding.

What not to do

  • Do not wait until life is easier to give charity.
  • Do not think trusting Allah means sitting and waiting.
  • Do not earn money in ways that are not halal. It costs more than it brings.
  • Do not measure your rizq only by your bank balance.

One last thing

Pick one of these five and start today. If you are not sure which one, start with the phone call. Call that relative before the week ends.

And tonight, make the dua of Musa (AS). Say it in Arabic if you can. If not, the meaning is a dua too.

Then see what Allah does.
